Art

Art. There’s a variety of definitions that anyone would give it, but there has to be one correct definition. If you look it up, the definition will say that it’s “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.” Sure, that’s debatable, but it’s got the main idea down. Although, art doesn’t necessarily have to be in a visual form. Music can be a form of art, hence it being performing ARTS. Almost anything can be considered art, as long as there’s some meaning to it.

This “masterpiece” that I made in 8th grade is definitely considered art. It’s definitely art because it has expression and I used my creative skill to make it, and it has meaning to it. I worked hard on this to make the textures how they are, I used steel wool to shape it out, and I water colored it to finish it off. In addition, I made it in art class, so it obviously HAS to be art. Seriously, why would you make something that isn’t art in art class? That’s just silly. At least that’s my opinion.

If a critic were to come and check out my piece of art, I would be surprised if he/she didn’t think it was art. It’s obviously painted and sculpted in a visual way, made in art class, for people to appreciate. It may not be the best piece of art they’ve ever seen but to actually have it be considered art, that would be nice. As long as it’s considered art, I’ll feel successful.
